Professor in Quantity Surveying
Ch.QS Prof (Mrs) Kanchana Perera is a Professor in Quantity Surveying attached to the Department of Building Economics, University of Moratuwa. Until recently, she served as the Chief Student Counselor of the University of Moratuwa while serving as the director of the Undergraduate Studies Division of the Faculty of Architecture, University of Moratuwa. After her graduation from the University of Moratuwa, she worked in the construction Industry first as a quantity surveyor and then as a senior quantity surveyor for seven years before joining the academic staff of the University of Moratuwa. She has around 16 years of working experience in the academia. She is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Sri Lanka (IQSSL), Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). She has been a member of the Executive Council of IQSSL for more than fifteen years. Currently, she is the chairperson of the Board of Quantity Surveying Education and Training at IQSSL and had also been the chairperson of the Board of Quantity Surveying Publications at IQSSL. She is also an APC Assessor of the IQSSL and local chapter of AIQS. She is a committee member and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)and Education coordinator of Sri Lanka Division of International Chapter of Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) since August 2015. She is also a Committee member of PAQS research committee from 2015 onwards
She is presently on sabbatical leave from the University of Moratuwa and serves as the head of the Department of Quantity Surveying of the University of Vocational Technology.
Her research interests are in the areas of risk management, construction procurement, quantity surveying, facilities management and property development. She has published altogether over hundred refereed journal articles and conferences papers in these areas.
